Sid Puranik Co-Owner and Director of Congressional Debate
Sid Puranik is a freshman at the University of Texas - Austin. As a graduate of Tompkins High School, Sid achieved unparalleled success on his young team. A three-time NSDA national qualifier in Congressional Debate, Sid reached semi-finals in 2017 and finals in 2019. In Texas, Sid competed at the TFA State tournament for four years, advancing to semifinals in Congressional Debate and International Extemp before championing Congressional Debate in 2019 and placing 5th in International Extemp at the same tournament. His 2019 state and national accomplishments capped off a year where he championed numerous local tournaments and placed 6th at the Cal Invitational in Congress.
Sid's former coach describes him as the most gifted competitor he's ever worked with and an even greater person. His passion for Extemp and Congress motivates everybody around him to try harder and to be the best competitor, coach, and person they can be. In fact, these qualities inspired the creation of Extemp Hub and all of its subsequent ventures.
Sid considers himself a foreign policy wonk and enjoys reading the latest edition of The Economist, accompanied by a cup of coffee. While somewhat of an introvert, his ideal day is one spent with friends (at a tournament).
